Telehealth is a form of service which closely resembles traditional in-office care, but telehealth services are conducted online via a one-to-one video between the therapist and the patient.
Telehealth and e-visits (sometimes called telerehab) enable providers to offer their rehabilitative services, from evaluations to actual treatments and even discharge. These are considered full-service visits, so in addition to using regular treatments, these visits can be used toward achieving the functional goals established in your evaluation, described as a plan of care.
Traditionally, physical therapy has not been authorized to bill for Telehealth services under most state practice acts, as well as insurance company policy. However, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this has been rapidly changing, and there have been several commercial insurances which have announced that they will cover telehealth services for physical therapy. In addition to the individual insurance companies, a handful of states have mandated statewide for this expansion of coverage. This is fantastic news for us and our patients, as we are continuing to implement the video visits as an option to keep our staff and patients healthy and safe.
Currently, we use a platform called BetterPT to connect with our patients. You can expect to be contacted by our staff within 2 business days after submitting your information.
